Pair of large antique Victorian shadow box Gilt Gesso and velvet frames

A fine pair of large Victorian Shadow box frames with gesso and gilt decoration and faded velvet slips. 

The inner frame features a very pretty high relief gilt gesso scroll of fruits, foliage and flowers, whilst the pretty faded velvet slip adds a very dramatic detail to these beautiful frames. These are called shadow box frames as the painting or mirror is set back into a deep frame. 

 They are an exact pair, and each measures: 66cm x 45cm, the aperture is 44cm x 23cm 

In their current condition they are absolutely stunning and ideal decorators pieces. Whether creating an authentic Victorian interior or aiming to create the faded opulence of french interiors these would look fabulous. 

Condition: Please thoroughly inspect photographs. There are losses to the gesso around the frame. They are beautiful but fragile with a very faded and opulent look. You may choose to restore or simply use these frames as they are.
